Michaela Rivera, MA, LMHCA (she, her, hers) is a psychology resident at EPA working under the supervision of Dr. Matt Brickell, PsyD prior to becoming a licensed psychologist. She is completing her PsyD at Spalding University in Louisville, KY. She has obtained training in a wide variety of clinical settings, including a VA medical center, anxiety specialty center, university counseling center, middle school, juvenile detention, and residential treatment facility. She has a strong commitment to continue providing quality psychological services to the veteran population.

Michaela maintains updated knowledge on gold-standard practices to treat a wide variety of mental health concerns and utilizes evidence-based practices through an integration of principles from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). She begins therapy with a focus on identifying the goals of her clients and follows by providing a space to explore and make progress towards achieving the stated goals. Michaela takes great care in providing an individualized approach to therapy by meeting her clients where they are and guiding them to improved mental health. She provides talk therapy services to adolescents and adults aged 16 and up.

Additionally, she offers psychodiagnostics evaluation services to children and adults who are concerned about a wide range of difficulties spanning from academic delays to pervasive interpersonal difficulties. Psychological assessments offer parents and/or clients the opportunity to identify and understand one’s mental health diagnosis and provide recommendations across a variety of settings.
