Dr. Amy Compton earned her doctoral degree in school psychology from the University of Washington. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Washington Autism Center, serving children with a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders and their families. Dr. Compton specializes in providing treatment to youth with disruptive behavior disorders to address externalizing problems such as noncompliance, emotional dysregulation, and aggression. Dr. Compton often incorporates parent coaching as part of her work with young children in order to help parents practice evidence-based behavior management techniques. She also provides treatment for anxiety, depression, and related mood disorders in children and adolescents. Additionally, Dr. Compton assesses both children and adolescents for cognitive ability, learning disabilities, and attention and executive functioning difficulties. Her primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioral, and she uses evidence-based approaches throughout her practice.
