Megan T. Brown, PhD, ARNP, PMHNP is a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy services to adults and adolescents ages 12 and older. Ms. Brown holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Seattle University, where she completed the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with Addictions Focus program. During her clinical training she completed internships at Compass Health, where she provided outpatient psychiatric services to children and teens; at Navos, where she worked with chronically mentally ill older adults living in supportive residential communities; and at the Avalon Center and the Recovery Center at Valley General in their substance abuse treatment programs. She has also worked as a psychiatric nurse at Fairfax Behavioral Health Hospital, primarily with adolescents. Previously, Ms. Brown earned her PhD in Genetics from the University of Washington and has worked as a genetics researcher, educator, and medical writer. She has conducted research on genetic and environmental influences on highly addicted smoking behavior and maintains a keen interest in the science of addiction.

Ms. Brown prescribes medication for a variety of mental health concerns. Her approach to prescribing is conservative and transparent; emphasizes safety, efficacy, comfort, and patient understanding; and is supported by research. Although Ms. Brown prescribes medication, she practices integrative, holistic care. Her treatment plans may include recommendations for therapy, nutrition, exercise, and sleep.
